Understanding Childcare Funding

What’s the Difference Between CCFRI and ACCB?

BC offers two different childcare funding programs that can help families reduce their childcare expenses.

Although both programs help make childcare more affordable, they work differently.

ALREADY INCLUDED

CCFRI

Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative

CCFRI is a BC government program that provides funding to participating childcare providers to reduce the monthly fees paid by families.

For eligible full-time infant and toddler care, the fee reduction can be up to $900 per month per child.

The actual reduction depends on the approved childcare schedule and applicable program rules.

Parents do not need to apply separately for CCFRI.

The tuition prices shown on our website already reflect the applicable CCFRI reductions.

This means families should not subtract CCFRI from the listed tuition prices again.

APPLY SEPARATELY

ACCB

Affordable Child Care Benefit

ACCB is a separate BC government program that provides additional financial assistance to eligible families.

Unlike CCFRI, parents must apply for ACCB directly.

Eligibility and benefit amounts depend on family income, family circumstances, childcare needs, and government approval.

If a family qualifies for ACCB, their monthly out-of-pocket childcare costs may be reduced further.

Example: How They Work Together

Full-time infant care, Option A:

Monthly tuition after CCFRI: $750

Without ACCB: $750/month

If approved for $300/month in ACCB: $450/month

The ACCB amount above is an example only. Actual benefits vary by family.

Important: Our listed tuition already includes CCFRI reductions. ACCB is additional assistance that eligible families may apply for separately.

A Gentle Beginning — Gradual Entry

Starting daycare is a big milestone for children and parents.

We understand that every child adjusts differently, so we offer a gradual entry process to support a gentle transition.

Children may begin with shorter visits and gradually increase their time as they become more comfortable.

We communicate closely with families and adjust the process based on each child's needs.

Regular monthly tuition applies during the gradual entry period.
