“My goal is to create the kind of warm and welcoming environment I would want for my own children.”
Read My Story
Hello!
I'm Emily, the founder of I Love Childcare, a certified Early Childhood Educator and Infant/Toddler Educator, and a proud mother of two.
My journey into childcare wasn't something I had planned from the beginning.
Growing up, I had many interests and dreams. I enjoyed learning different things, including cooking, and I wasn't always sure what I wanted to become.
Later, I decided to study English and Korean language at university in Korea.
Some people questioned my decision because it seemed different from my earlier interests, but I loved English and wanted to follow that passion.
After graduating, I came to Canada on a working holiday visa, without knowing exactly where life would take me.
An Unexpected Beginning
One day, my church needed more volunteers for Sunday school, and I was asked to become a teacher.
At the time, I had no idea how much that simple invitation would change my life.
Working with children wasn't always easy. Preparing activities, playing together, teaching, and caring for little ones could be exhausting.
But I began to experience something unexpected.
Even when I felt physically drained, I often found my heart filled with more love than before.
Through those experiences, I gradually discovered how much I loved being with children.
Looking back, I believe God was gently shaping my heart and leading me toward a calling I hadn't yet recognized.
Finding My Calling
That experience inspired me to pursue Early Childhood Education in Canada.
Although I had studied English at university, I was born and raised in Korea, and studying in an English-speaking environment was challenging.
There were difficult moments when I felt overwhelmed or questioned whether I could do it.
But whenever things became difficult, I reminded myself why I had started and held on to the calling I believed God had placed on my heart.
Step by step, I completed my Early Childhood Education studies and became a certified Early Childhood Educator and Infant/Toddler Educator.
My experiences as a nanny and babysitter also helped me grow in confidence and deepen my understanding of children's needs.
Even then, I never imagined that I would one day open my own daycare.
But life continued to bring new opportunities and challenges that encouraged me to grow beyond what I thought I could do.
Looking back now, I believe God was preparing me through every chapter of my life.
What once seemed like completely different paths — cooking, language studies, volunteering, and early childhood education — all became meaningful parts of the journey that brought me here.
Becoming a Mother
Today, as a mother of two, I understand even more deeply how precious every child is.
I also understand how much trust it takes for parents to leave their little ones in someone else's care.
I want families to feel confident knowing their children are not only being cared for, but genuinely loved, understood, and respected.
My goal is to create the kind of warm and welcoming environment I would want for my own children.
Why I Named It "I Love Childcare"
The name I Love Childcare holds two special meanings that are very close to my heart.
The first meaning comes from Korean.
In Korean, the English letter "I" sounds like "아이" (ai), the Korean word for "child."
This creates a special connection between the English letter "I" and the Korean word for "child."
To me, it represents a simple but meaningful message:
"I love children."
It reflects my genuine love for children and my desire to care for each child with kindness, patience, and respect.
The second meaning comes from English.
"I Love Childcare" means exactly what it says:
"I love the work of caring for children."
For me, childcare is more than just a job.
Working with young children requires patience, energy, dedication, and responsibility. Some days can be incredibly tiring.
But there is something beautiful about this work.
Even when I finish the day with less energy, I often find that my heart is fuller than when it began.
I first experienced this feeling while volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, and it has stayed with me throughout my journey as an educator.
I don't do this work because every day is easy. I do it because the love I experience through caring for children makes even the challenging days meaningful.
Two meanings, one heartfelt purpose: loving children and loving the work of caring for them.
That is the heart behind I Love Childcare.
For me, childcare is not simply a profession or a business. It is a calling, a responsibility, and a way to share the love and kindness I have been blessed with.
Although my Christian faith is an important part of my personal journey, I warmly welcome children and families from all backgrounds.
Every child deserves to feel loved, respected, and accepted just as they are.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
It would be a privilege to be part of your child's early years.
With love,
Emily
